Three Jazz Moods

Three Jazz Moods is based on Three Little Feelings by Modern Jazz Quartet music director and pianist John Lewis. Notable composer and conductor Gunther Schuller served as president of the New England Conservatory of Music from 1967-1977, and in the late 1950’s coined the term “Third Stream Music” to describe the fusion or synthesis of classical and jazz music. This work reflects the colors, sonorities, and feel of the music of composer/pianist Gil Evans and his musical collaborations with Miles Davis and “Birth of the Cool” sessions in the mid 1950’s.
