The Sing Me a Story Foundation is a program that combines the imaginations of children in need with the talents of musicians to create stories and songs that bring joy to all those involved.
Our story comes from twelve-year-old Lilly Campbell, whom Sing Me a Story connected with through the nonprofit #ThroughThePain. This organization supports individuals and families affected by Sickle Cell Disease and works to promote awareness, education, and community care.
When given the opportunity to write about anything she wanted, Lilly chose to share something deeply personal from her own life. Her story explores what it feels like when others make assumptions about her mixed identity, and the challenges of not always feeling fully seen or understood.
Composer Luciano Lopez-Parnetti (LLP) is a 4th-year undergraduate composition student at the Boston Conservatory, a proud son of Argentinian immigrants, and lover of diverse styles of music. His compositions are inspired by the works of minimalist composers, South American music, and alternative rock, with an emphasis on rhythmic groove and musical storytelling through continuous/narrative form. Luciano brought Lilly’s story to life through music, capturing both the challenges and the hope within her journey.
